  • Team of German Researchers to Receive Honda Prize 2008

    The Honda Foundation, co-founded by Soichiro Honda and his younger brother Benjiro Honda, and currently headed by Hiromori Kawashima, is pleased to announce the Honda Prize for the year 2008 will be awarded to a German team of researchers of electron microscopy led by Dr. Maximilian Haider, Dr. Harald Rose, and Dr. Knut Urban.

    ALLISTON, Ontario, Canada - Honda of Canada Mfg. officially opened its newest investment in Canada - a state-of-the art $154 million engine plant. The new facility will produce 200,000 fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines annually for Civic production in response to growing North American demand for vehicles that provide excellent fuel economy.

    TOKYO, Japan - Honda announced that it has developed a multi-view camera system which displays views from multiple wide-angle CCD cameras on the vehicle’s navigation screen to reduce blind spots, support smooth parallel or garage parking, and support comfortable and safe driving in a 3-way intersection where there is limited visibility or on narrow roads.

    TOKYO, Japan - Honda has developed the world’s first driver-side i-SRS airbag system that continuously stages the volume of airbag-inflating gas, thereby combining enhanced occupant protection with reduced occupant impact.

  • Third Generation Pedestrian Dummy for Crash Tests

    TOKYO, Japan - Honda announced that it will begin using its new third generation pedestrian dummy, POLAR III, in vehicle-to-pedestrian crash tests before the end of this year, with the aim of reducing pedestrian lower back and upper leg injuries which are common in collisions between a pedestrian and a SUV or mini-van.
